FAQ
Straight answers, no jargon.
The questions Brisbane business owners actually ask. Something not here? Just ask.
- What does EwanMeIt do?
- I'm Ewan Milroy - a Brisbane-based IT consultant. I look after managed IT, cybersecurity, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, email security and AI setup for small and growing businesses. It's me and the systems I've built, which is exactly how my clients like it.
- Do you support Google Workspace as well as Microsoft 365?
- Yes. Plenty of Brisbane businesses run on Google Workspace, and I support it end to end - Gmail, user accounts, Shared Drive permissions, security and licensing - the same way I do Microsoft 365. Whichever platform you're on, you get the same hands-on support.
- How much does managed IT support cost in Brisbane?
- Managed IT starts from $49 per user per month (minimum 5 users, so from $245/month all up). One-off fixed-scope work starts from $295 (Domain Lockdown) up to around $890 (Copilot Ready Plan), and ad-hoc support is $150/hour. New clients start with a free 15-minute triage call so you know the sensible next step before spending anything. Every engagement is confirmed in a written quote first - no surprises.
- Do you outsource or use an overseas helpdesk?
- No. You deal with me, a local Brisbane operator, directly. 15+ years, no call centres, no outsourcing. When you call, you get the person who actually fixes it.
- How fast do you respond?
- Business+ and Secure+ include a four-business-hour initial response target during business hours. Essentials includes business-hours support without the priority response target. For general enquiries I reply within 2 business hours. Urgent and on-site availability depends on the issue, location and current workload.
- Can someone really send email pretending to be my business?
- Yes - if your domain isn't locked down. Without SPF, DKIM and DMARC set to 'reject', anyone can send email that looks like it came from your domain, which is exactly how fake-invoice scams reach your customers. Initial DNS changes can be quick, but moving safely to a blocking DMARC policy depends on identifying every legitimate sender first - I confirm the scope and timing before making changes so real email is not disrupted. Run the free scan to see where your domain stands.
- What is Microsoft Intune used for?
- Intune is Microsoft's tool for managing and securing the devices your staff use - laptops, phones, tablets. It lets me enforce security (encryption, PIN/MFA, remote wipe if a device is lost) and keep everything patched and compliant, without you having to touch each device.
- Is Microsoft 365 Copilot safe to turn on?
- Copilot can see everything your staff can see - so if your permissions and sharing are messy, it will surface the wrong files to the wrong people. I get your M365 tidy and secure first (the Copilot Ready Plan), so Copilot is a genuine win, not a leak.
- Can you help my team actually use AI safely?
- Yes. My own business runs on AI agents I built, so I help other Brisbane businesses do the same safely - an AI readiness audit to find what's worth automating, safe-AI training for your team, and private in-house AI if your data can't leave the building.
- Which areas do you cover?
- I'm based in Inala and cover Brisbane's south west and surrounds - Forest Lake, Springfield Central, Ipswich, Browns Plains, Springwood, plus the CBD, Fortitude Valley, Newstead, South Brisbane, Milton, Toowong, Indooroopilly, Mount Gravatt, Carindale and beyond. On-site where it helps, remote when that's faster.
