Why it’s more than hosting
The server is the cheap part. Keeping a business website safe and working is the ongoing job, and it’s the job most hosting plans leave to you.
Cheap hosting is just the disk
A shared plan keeps the server running. Updating WordPress, plugins and PHP, checking backups restore, and noticing when the contact form stops sending are all left to you.
Renewal prices and add-ons creep
First-year prices jump at renewal, and the account fills with SSL certificates and domain add-ons you don't need. Free certificates do the same job.
Security fixes wait for someone to notice
When a serious flaw is announced, someone has to apply the fix on your site. On a shared plan, that someone is usually you.

- Hosting on an Australian server (Melbourne) with a free SSL certificate
- Server and PHP security patches applied as soon as fixes are released
- WordPress core, theme and plugin updates, with a check that the site still works
- Nightly backups kept off the server
- Uptime monitoring, so I hear about an outage before your customers do
- DNS on Cloudflare; domains stay registered in your name, renewals passed on at cost
- Contact forms kept sending through an authenticated mail service
- Small content changes, up to 30 minutes a month
What’s not included
- Domain registration fees (passed on at cost)
- Email hosting. Your mailboxes stay with Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace
- Redesigns, new pages and new features, quoted separately
- Online stores and very large sites, quoted separately

Moving your site across
Your current site stays live the whole time. The cost of moving is in the quote before you agree to anything.

I check where your site and domain are now, what renews when, and what it would take to move.

Built alongside
Your site is copied to my server and tested on a private address, while the old one stays live.

Switch over
DNS moves at a quiet time. Email is left alone, and the old site stays as a fallback until the new one is confirmed.

Looked after
Patches, updates, backups and monitoring from then on. You email me when you want a change.
